Tea Time

Has anyone else been feeling a little under the weather lately? My throat has it been the culprit of all my pain. Hopefully it’s just allergies from the temperature cooling down. Hot tea can really warm you up when the temperature drops, herbal tea has many health benefits too. Depending on the type of herbs used changes the benefits and symptoms that can be helped. In Sweden they have coffee/tea time in the afternoon called Fika. In the summer of 2016 I went on a study abroad trip to Scandinavia and experience real life Fika. I like to do have Fika here in America because it reminds me to slow down. Often, I find myself moving too fast and before I know it the day is over.

Trying a wide variety of tea is great. It lets you taste and decide which tea you enjoy before spending hard-earned money. No one wants to spend their money on a box of tea they don’t like. I feel you, I’ve been there too–I’m a cheapskate. One of my favorite tricks is when you stay at a hotel with complementary breakfast, there is tea! Maybe all hotels have tea, I’m not really sure. Every hotel I’ve been to has tea next to the coffee machine and water. So maybe check there first. It seems like hotels order a bulk variety pack of tea because there are usually plenty of options. This is how i first found Bigelow’s Mint Medley herbal tea.

It’s a blend of fresh garden spearmint and peppermint. A great beverage for stomach aches too because it promotes digestion. Mint tea can also help with congestion, aches, and pain. <–  Which I need BAD. Isn’t it amazing what all the different herbs can do for our bodies. I’m amazed every time. Mint tea is a go to for me when I feel a cold coming on too. It has soothing properties so it feels great on a sore throat.  Sometimes I’m skeptical of mint flavored things, but this tea has a perfect hint of mint & it wasn’t overwhelming at all. In case you’re not a fan of mint there are many other herbal teas that can help when you’re feeling blue. Ginger or Chamomile teas are great to drink  on a sick-day. There are so many herbal teas out there. To make sure you’re getting the best one make sure you read the ingredient and look for additives, we don’t need any of that junk.
